So many social sites to keep up with and I’m only one person. That’s why I just focus on twitter and my FB fan-page.
I can understand companies who hire one sole individual to keep up with all things that are social media. It’s a lot of work, not to mention a lot of time to do pretty much spread your message. Probably by saying it on twitter, to say it again on facebook, to hopefully have it digged, then maybe someone will stumbleupon it and hopefully if it works out right, you will have forgotten you were the one who made the original post and you re-tweet yourself. UGH!
Now I’m not knocking the whole social media craze. I understand it’s benefits. It gets your message out there, it gets people to notice you and reach another demographic you might not have considered before. It’s even possible to gain people who also believe in your cause and will want to help spread the word. Besides, it’s important to reach the people who choose to use one form of social media and not the other. You have to make sure your all your bases are covered. For the individual who is on top of every form of social connection it’s probably already been said way too many times. On the other end of the spectrum, for people who only use one rss feed or website to get their information from. It’s shiny and sparkly with that fresh brand new smell.
But at the end of the day it still seems like one big circle of people racing to say the same thing, to gain followers and be the #1 source for all things informative.
My solution, if you’re only one person or two, is too keep it simple and focus on one or two social media forms and do it really well. If people like what you have to say then the message will spread.
